French or Dutch Fan Gouache of The New Land 1680

We are very pleased to offer a finely painted and very interestingly done French or Dutch 17th C. gouache of a genre scene depicting a festive gathering among palm trees and figures wearing what appear to be Naitive American headressess. Centered in the image is an American Turkey being srenated by a youn costumed man with a zither or guitar. In the scene is a man cooking over an open fire with boiling pots as people gather in what is obviously some type of celebration.
This painting was done originally as a mount for a fan. If you examine the work closely the "cut" or "edge" line can be seen that arches over the painting. You can also see less obviously the radiating lines where the fan blades would be attached. I believe this painting was done to display a feast in "The New Land". The only place in the world at that time, that I am aware of, where you have palm trees, parrots, Turkeys and people who wear feathered headresses is North America.
Condition: Fine condition, minor flaking.
